Liked by some, hated by some, and seen as average by many, fate/extra is somewhat of the opinion divider. This is the first fate adaption by shaft, and considering the reception of this it is probably the last one.

This review covers both this and the 3 ep ova sequel. A few spoilers in the review below, turn away if you want to go in 100% blind.

The protagonist, hakuno, where he is friends with shinji and meets other fate series characters, while the peace doesn't last long as we see the move towards the beginning of the ?th holy grail war, and hakuno is backstabbed by ...

Not every Fate series is for everyone - Apocrypha is a pretty contentious subject in particular (I liked it for what it was), and Prisma Illya, at least the anime (manga was great!) is hit or miss too depending on your tolerance for relentless loli pandering and mostly terrible fights with a few really good ones. However, despite my not necessarily liking all of them, they still ended up feeling like Fate and having at least something likable about them, including Deen's original FSN.

Last Encore... doesn't. Outside of a really nice opening it's just lacking in anything that makes Fate... Fate.

Edge of your seat fights? ...

Fate/Extra:Last Encore is a sequel story of the original game in a different universe.
I personally enjoyed the show quite a lot and I think studio SHAFT handled it very nicely. Of course, there were some issues, but I generally think it was great. The appearance of our beautiful empress is something not to be missed,so enjoy the show!

The art was brilliant and I loved the fact that it was based on the original game's art style by artist Wada Arco. SHAFT's aesthetic is so unique and it's great that they brought elements from some of their previous works like Madoka Magica's nightmare fuel or the famous ...

I will keep this brief. This is shaft we are talking about. The monogatari vibes are insane. But because it is shaft, the show has a lot of... complicated scenes. Rapid jump cuts, evocative angles that are suppose to carry the emotion instead the dialogue. But debatable this is a harder to follow anime than monogatari. The monogatari series has a lot of quick shots of statements to help illustrate thoughts. That aside, again because it is studio Shaft, the animation is superb, the characters can look vibrant, or menacing when needed. If you can follow the story direction, it is a great story. A ...

No. I categorically refuse to consider Fate / Extra Last Encore a beautiful anime. I'm sorry for all those who love the series but no. Simply no. I don't think I can put into words the illness I felt in watching the different episodes. I have witnessed all kinds of horrors and I'm not kidding. I'm talking about the inexpressive faces of Kishinami Hakuno, the lack of psychological depth of the protagonist, the stupidity of the story and Nero Claudius.
Holy Mary, here we are: we are talking about Nero Claudius.
Do you know Artoria Pendragon? Good. Take her face, change her body and throw the depth ...

What if saber went full UwU, hahahahahhahaha jk. Well shit now we got it to.

This is a review for season 1 and 2 for what is worth it (NO spoil). Fate/Extra is an alternative setting for Fate/Stay. As such there are elements overlapping in both anime. But that’s it. There is no relation to each other what so ever. So when you watch this keep that in mind.

Story:
Typical Fate/ story. Boy who was actually not involved in the grail war at all gets pulled in and gets a saber class servant. An important aspect is not if Hakonu (mc) will reach the moon cell, but ...

Story: The fact that Shaft and the original creator chose to do an original take on the Fate/Extra story is enticing in itself for it attracted both fans of the original source material and anime only's, but also a double-edged sword in itself also, for the staff could've done better in worldbuilding and pacing. By the time of this review, when I learned it was only going to have 10 episodes, I felt robbed of a unique experience and take on the Fate franchise, as it truly felt like there could've been at least 20+ episodes to this, considering how the story is structured, and ...

If you're expecting an adaption of the PSP game, that's not quite what this is. However, there are many references to it, especially the characters. I still recommend playing it first before diving into this anime.

Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. The story is all over the place and can be confusing at times. A few events seem extremely out of place and don't really have much of an explanation for them. The characterizations are weak and the relationships are meh. It feels like the story was very rushed with all the effort to cover as much as ...

And what makes it special to me from the other fate animes are :-
The logical intilligance story and characters and the good happy ending fate animes used to be dark but this one is special I was happy to see some new characters new ideas not the same usual characters and ideas .
The awesome, beautiful graphics one of the best graphical works that I have ever seen .

This series is "based" on a videogame but it's not necessary to play it to understand it.

The animation style is like no other from the rest of Fate media and to be completely honest I don't think it fits at all. If this season used a brand new cast of characters, I would probably enjoy it after getting used to it but that's not the case. The animation style just makes the original characters look like parodies of themselves and I don't like it.

Another main visual difference is the action scenes. Compared to the other Fate titles, this season has barely any action. ...

I have watched so many anime of the ‘Fate’ franchise up till that moment, and it is the first among all of those anime with the most boring story I have ever seen.

As well I found the characters including the main one very normal and uninteresting.
It had a very bad storyline which no matter how much times I watched it did not make sense. Just knew that something is connected to the holy bell and ascending up.
Although I always regard 'Fate' franchise as one of the best franchise in my heart, but Fate/Extra: Definitely, last encore is one of those series that I would never ...

Okay to start off the absolutely first thing you need to know about Last Encore is that it is not an actual adaption of the source material video game, fate/extra. To summarise, Last Encore is quite literally an extended bad ending not part of the original game.

Fate Extra takes place in 2030. You can choose the player character's gender in the game, and the female Hakuno seems to be the canon choice for the timeline this anime takes place in. Essentially, what happened in the Last Encore timeline is that the final boss in the game won the final battle against the protagonist of Fate/Extra, ...

Blizzard: Oh shit we messed up
Bethesda: Lol I'll show you how to make your fan base hate you
Shaft Studios: Hold my beer

Foreal tho, why do you guys keep making the fate series worse and worse? Like do you guys really have nothing better to do than make another pile of junk? Don't get me wrong. First 2 Fate series were absolutely amazing, then after that went all down hill. Pls stop beating up the dead horse. Leave it to die and don't make another horrible spinoff/money milking machine/adaption.

Getting into the actual anime itself. Solid fight animation (for the most part). But I'm getting a lot ...

LA will say right here and now, but Fate/Extra: Last Encore was LA's wild card of Winter 2018 and it sure was a wild ride to the Fate/Extra: Last Encore "world" of SHAFT-iness and and defeating masters every floor...

Fate/Extra: Last Encore is quite the different take on the Fate series but holds some of the same basic rules as the Fate series, having the same "must defeat Masters and their Servants to obtain the Holy Grail", "getting to know the opponents and their backstories" and finally having a Saber that the main protagonist has as it's Servant. However what's different about this Fate compared to ...

"Fate extra last encore is made so it can be viewed by newcomers and old fans alike" - says the lying mushroom.

So Nasu lied again, in other words bears still shit in the woods. This is the guy who said that the tsukihime remake is still undergoing while playing bloodborne while getting others to write for him. Nasu's word hold as much weight as toilet paper, and you can use it as such. But there is a more important issue we need to tackle, and that is why does this exist?

As a long term fate franchise viewer, I am up to date with the most ...

When the announcement came that Studio Shaft was going to adapt an entry into the ever expansive Fate series I was legitimately looking forward to it with bated breath, but admittedly a little skeptical. The Fate franchise is one that I hold very highly and each adaptation, somehow or another, managing to keep my love and adulation for the series growing strong. So couple that with Studio Shaft at the helm this time, being one of my favorite anime production studios with such great works like Madoka Magica and the Monogatari series being their most acclaimed series, needless to say I was very much hyped.

However, ...

Reviewer's note: This is my 18th entry into the Fate franchise and this review encompasses the Illustrias Tendousetsu episodes.

✪ Genre: action (swordplay, gunfights), contemporary fantasy, magic (spellcasting), RPG< seinen, (superpower) with elements of sci-fi (artificial intelligence, post-apocalyptic, dystopia, virtual world)

✔Positive Aspects✔

◧ Animation: even though this series was created by Shaft, the design standards fit the same mold that previous studios followed - a combination of colors of moderate to low saturation/medium to high illumination, with the environment and landscapes, urban, natural and surreal, being comparably more "muted".

This is my first review and I just wanted to write this down.

First of all, Last Encore is NOT the gateway into the Fate Series.
It has a unique backstory and only glances on core terminology.

Second, I've seen a lot of people complaining about how "they're butchering the story (from the PSP game it's based of)", but Shaft already said It was an original script based on the game.
And I think the way they are going is good and filled with references to those who have played It.

The art style differs a lot from other Fate anime, but that is how Arco Wada (the game's designer) ...

Animation:
Good! the shade and light filters are very beautiful, highlight the trait, the battles are very lively, I just missed the more elaborate choreographies.
Note 7/10.

Direction:
Median! it goes well with the feeling in some scenes and is very bad in others, at least it is good in the main scenes, and as a good director of Shaft, it is full of visual mannerisms.
Note 6/10.

Script:
Disputable! The story is so confused and vague that several explanations are not objective at all, what leaves things a little forced, besides the fact that history in general has nothing d +. What draws attention is the heroine Nero, an extremely sympathetic ...

This series, which was made by Shaft, is pretty neat for me because of reasons... Though many wouldn't understand, I think the ways Shaft made this using their

unique story telling and

stunning, but static, visuals

made this series stand out from the usual stuff the Fate Series had to offer, which is pretty justifiable because of the point that this is from a different story in itself.

I'm pretty sure, people who are fans of the Fate Series and the Monogatari Series will like this Anime, though it might take a couple of episodes for it to actually show that it is indeed ...
